Doing The Dance ?

Doing The Dance ?

Why do young girls find a boyfriend, break up, then make up and then do it all over again with the same smuck?  Young girls just seem to do this, they are in love and there is no one other. Parents try and tell them about all the fish in the ocean thing, yet, they go back to smucky.

My daughter has done this dance it seems about thirty times with her smuck. Over and over. She needs him, he's her everything. Everyone tries to tell her, when he dumps you, stay dumped. Go out in the world and find another fish. I think she should do this, she is a senior in high school. Dump smuck 1 and find smuck 2. He won't be following you to college. Have some fun, enjoy the last year of school.

I'm afraid she thinks so little of herself, that she does this. Do other young women do this too? Is this why they do the dance? Or, is it just part of learning life, learning about who you are and what you really want in life for yourself?

She was dropped by smuck #1, let's hope she will stay droppeed and go on to smuck # 2.

Picture This

Picture This

This week, our work group got together to take a picture., A shot of, well,  our  group. The memo was sent from our Superintendent saying that this would be a moral shoot. A MORAL shoot? You can actually boost moral by taking a picture?

I thought how silly this must be. I am the eternal pessamist, you can not fix moral with a photo. It starts from the top with our Division  and trickles down from there. Maybe if the group had our financial budget stuff in order, if they actually made us think that they gave a crap, then maybe moral would improve.

Moral would improve with a few nice jobs, a couple of Attaboys and the like. Instead, we get incident letters and discipline letters and management  trying to hit the home run by firing some one. They forget about the progressive discipline and go straight to the ax. We always say no one is fired until it has been 2 years. Management seems to forget steps and the firings always seems to backfire.

Well, after the pictures were taken, everyone was talking at how lame this all was. What was our leader thinking? We all thought to ourselves, Will the pictures continue until moral improves?

Sunday Dinner Anyone?

Sunday Dinner Anyone?

Yeah, today is Sunday! What that usually means is a great dinner cooked by my mother -in- law at her house. But not today, today it is stuffed manicotti with my wife, made by the two of us. The two of us all alone. No child to be found anywhere.

My wife is a fabulous cook,(think short Italian).I even get to help. She has all the recipes, I do the sous chef thing. I am not allowed to be in charge in her kitchen, fine by me, it is really about spending good time with her. Today I'm the manicotti stuffer. Filling tubes of pasta with a beef and cheese concoction that smells out of this world. I know it will taste the same.

To be continued...

80/20 Rule?

Posted by Dodger Mel

80/20 Rule?

I have this 80/20 Rile. That 80% of people in the world are ok, the other 20% are just always screwed up. Also, 80% of life is just showing up.

Well, what do you do when after all this time in your life you realize that you are part of the 20%? It seems that all your good intentions and hard work just always end in some sort of drama. Drama that you don't even start, but that is where it goes.

My son called me a dick yesterday. Because I want him to stay and finish the school year out before he goes back to live with his mother.  I'm so hurt by him saying this to me and a boatload of other choice words I don't even know what to write. I'm numb. The verbal attack is just so painful. His mother doesn't understand why I'm so hurt. He's just 15.

I guess there will be more later, if my bi-polar brain can ever process this.....
